The Fate of Adam & Eve

Since Adam & Eve were the first humans to commit sin, and they were cast out of the Garden of Eden, in Genesis 3, it was up to them to popluate the world. Adam lived and died, it doesn't mention how long Eve lived but, its true that she did die as well as Adam.

Genesis 5:5 "So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thrity years and he died." NKJV

My question is, it may sound like a dumb one but I'll ask anyway. Since You couldn't get to Heaven at this time, because its before Christ's Death and Reserrection, Did Adam and Eve go to Hell?

You would go to the bosum of Abraham to await the coming of Christ.

i think it is a popular tradition that, when Jesus "descended into hell" to free the saints, Adam was among them. i'll see if i can find a specific reference.........

Well, I like to think that Adam, still believed in God, and served Him despite his fall to sin. But he couldn't go to Heaven, without the Jesus, and since, Jesus had not yet come it, presumes this as a mystery.

well, its not MUCH of a mystery. we know that the Fathers and the OT saints who died before Jesus' death, resurrection, and ascension went to the "Limbo of the Fathers" or "the bosom of Abraham", usually considered a place of waiting for the Messiah, where the only suffering was the anticipation. this is where Jesus went when he "descended to the dead". he freed them from their temporary captivity and they followed Him into heaven.

so, if Adam were among these Fathers and OT saints, then he is now in heaven. the only mystery is if he was indeed among them. i'm thinking tradition holds that he is, but i can't seem to find my source for this......

anyone?

you may be thinking of Mat 27:52-53

52 the tombs also were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised,
53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
