Maybe what he meant was more like is responsible with his/her money like planning ahead and not spending it all like crazy right away, balancing his/her checkbook, stuff like that?
“Worry” was a poor choice of words. I was trying to contrast them with someone who’s irresponsible. “Pay attention to” might have been a better choice.
Very good point – and I would whole-heartedly agree with you that the 28yo is more mature.

For me, certain aspects of maturity are givens. Someone who is concerned about their finances = mature. Someone who thinks a credit card is free money = immature. Someone who can have a committed relationship with one individual, and know what they are committing themselves to heart and soul = mature. Paris Hilton = immature.

But I’m looking at the more subtle aspects of maturity, especially when I’m looking to find someone who I feel is compatible with me in a relationship sense. A mature person worries about their finances. A slightly less mature person might obsess about them, spending the last nice days of summer trying to balance the remaining $0.02 of their checkbook. An even more mature person knows when to hit that person over the head with a pillow.

I can’t find a really good way to describe it, as it is a very fine line (in my mind), and it’s different for each person. But it is an integral part of their personality. As for me – I only know them when I know them    ^_^

I can agree with you on all points.

I tend to go for guys older than me because of the maturity level but the year and a half age diffrence this time around doesn't seem to be an issue. He's very mature for his age and you'd never believe he's in high school. Plus I'm a little immature (I'll admit it) so yeah.

My new rule is they have to be able to vote, as of tuesday he's in the clear.

My own sure-fire personality test to see if the girl I'm with is a keeper - regardless of age (somewhat based on an earlier post of mine):

If we're sitting on my couch watching a movie, and I pick up a pillow and playfully hit her with it, and she gets mad - I'm ejected.

If she gets hurt - I'm rejected.

If she picks up a pillow and hits me back - I'm in love

Oh that's just for starters - but you wouldn't believe how many girls that weeds out (at least in my experience).

And that's not to say that any reactions are wrong - just wrong for being compatible with me.

The second test is a little more vague - can we live through a date that is a total disaster, and still keep smiling at the end. I was out with a girl one time and we did a walking tour of Cleveland. But she wore the wrong shoes, and got blisters on her feet so bad that I had to carry her back to my car :o Add to that the fact I banged her head on the door when I tried to get her in the vehicle! I felt SO bad about that. :(

But I got her back to my house, got the tub filled with warm water, and let her soak her poor feet. I also made her dinner (Mac & coagulated milk - it was all I had). And I set up my laptop so that we could watch a DVD while we ate, and she could keep soaking her feet. At the end, I think she forgave me - we were bf/gf for a year afterwards ^_^

I knew guys who used the "Taco Bell test" in college. The guy would ask a girl out to dinner, but not tell her where they were going. When he went to pick her up, he'd open the door for her. If she in turn unlocked his door before he got there, they'd go to a nice place for dinner. If she didn't, they'd go to Taco Bell.

wow! haha. well carrying her back, letting her soak her feet while eating and watching a movie, and not feeling like you had to over do anything (like go out for steak because of her feet) was a good sign i think! :)

Well, they didn't so much know Taco Bell was an option ...

I'd do fast food for a date, depending on the situation.

"Normal" is such a subjective word ... I don't think the key is finding someone who's normal. I think the key is finding someone whose eccentricities complement your own.
