Thy Geekdom Come

My professor told me that it was going to be hard for me to write it because he thinks I'm too doctrinal and theological and not catechetical enough (that is, I know, but can't explain).

I got the paper back today with an A and the comment "we'll make a catechist out of you yet!"

:D: This is definitely encouraging. Thank you to all who proofread and offered suggestions. :)

thats really cool. I was thinking of getting a degree in some area of Catholicism in College. What are some jobs that you can with a degree of some sort of study in Catholicism?

It really depends on who's hiring, when, and what their requirements are.

I would recommend getting a degree in something else as well...but Catholicism can be brought into many areas of life and all occupations could use evangelization. :)

i plan on being a Director of Religious Education for a parish and eventually teaching theolgy at the university level. until then, i could probably use the masters i will be working on to teach at the high school level, or maybe a community college. it'd be cool to write a book or two about some catholic topic as well

I tell ya' its all about papers here. Just finished my "On Women and their role in Society" paper for CST and now onto "Apologetics in the Pre-catechumenate: the Pastoral, Catechetical, and Liturgical basis" paper for RCIA. It takes about 2 time longer for me to edit the papers than to write them.

Ah...I edit while writing and then do a general edit.

It's usually like this for me:

Find the divine perspective, the essentials, and the misunderstandings.

Construct a logical sequence of points by making a dialogue (I figure that the natural sequence a discussion about the subject would take is also a good natural form for catechesis).

Take that sequence (but not the dialogue itself) and make it an outline...a skeleton of a paper.

Put some flesh on the skeleton...that is, material.

Bring it to life by making it flow really well and sparking a bit of interest here and there.

End with a reference to the liturgy.

I like that format.
