Ok. I asked my mom why there are 3 purple candles and 1 pink; and why you like the pink one on the third week and not the first or last? anyway. She said she didn't know, but she told me to ask here(which is the whole reasone she introdused me to the site. lol)

I'm just realy curious and want to learn more about my Faith. :)
Thanks.

Christie_M,

Purple, in the Roman Church, is symbolic of mourning or penance. Though Advent isn't a penitential season in the same way that Lent is, it is a time for purification from sin and imperfection so that we can receive the Lord at Christmas. The pink candle represents what we call "Gaudete Sunday", or the Third Sunday of Advent. "Gaudete" is a command - rejoice! The Church reminds us with this command that all this is for a reason, namely, the joy of encountering the Incarnate Son of God who brings salvation to the world. Hope this helps!

Yours,
Pio Nono
