Sojourner
I was just thinking about the whole "liberal/conservative" label today and where I fit on the range. PM is the only place I frequent where my leanings are considered in any way liberal ... everyplace else in my life, I'm considered pretty conservative in most areas. I just find that funny. thessalonian
I don't know whether I'm liberal or conservative...... could someone help me?
The best thing to be is Catholic which in reality is neither liberal nor conservative. When one affiliates with one side of the other of these he runs the risk of following it in to error as it changes over time. I've seen this happened as the democratic party has embraced abortion, which they used to abhore. Diehard democrats have justified their affiliation and even become pro-choice. Conservative is vulnerable to extremism as well. In some ways Catholicism is liberal and in some sense it is conservative. These "philosophies" also very from decade to decade. But Catholicism remains the same in it's focus. Today I associate more with "conservative" but I would not say that was or always will be the case. Ash Wednesday
Where is the liberal thread that was mentioned? I'm with sojourner. Many have said I was conservative, but in some ways I'm certainly not. But I've eaten real whale meat, so my Berkeley ghetto pass has been revoked. I probably fit under the definition of "crunchy/granola conservative." My dad and I were laughing at an old bumper sticker on a truck in my hometown that said, "Save a logger, eat an owl." Actually, last I heard, the northern spotted owl was being threatened by....another owl species.
