What would be a good catholic book to give my mom's new boyfriend?

He wants a good Catholic book, he's turning his life around, and he's bringing my mother with. Thanks be to God.

Any suggestion.... not to hard reading, but a good book? Ideas? Maybe I'll give him a Priest forever!

Yours in Christ,

Eddie Lee

This Is Our Faith by Michael Francis Pennock was the book I read.... and re-read when I was taking RCIA two years ago. It's not too big, but it's full of information!

I'd give him a book that he can relate to... obviously he's discerning marriage and not seminary. All of Scott Hahn's books are good and easy to read, and if you want to give him a book about marriage than I'd suggest something by Christopher West or "Marriage, The Mystery of Faithful Love" by Dietrich Von Hildebrand

I am currently reading "The Catholic Passion" by David Scott. It is not an apologitic book, more like a why I love being Catholic. I had really enjoyed the book so far.

I definitely agree with the suggestions of Scott Hahn and Christopher West. Both are very easy to read and comprehend. And if he just wants to know the basics...I suggest "Catholicism for Dummies". Despite the title, it is actually very very good and explains things simply and effectively. :)

How about "The Big Book of Firearms: How to deal with those that mistreat your mother"?

After he has read and understands that book you can give him one of the other fine suggestions.

I second all of the above suggestions, esp the firearms one! But also, The Good News About Sex and Marriage by Christopher West!

A really excellent book, Eddie, would be a copy of: This is the Faith, by Canon Francis Ripley. It's available from TAN, here: http://www.tanbooks.com/index.php/page/sho...product_id/537 . Good luck!

Whatever you get him go to the heart. Depending upon what kind of person he is you can get him anything from 'Love alone is credible' to 'the Dark Night of the Soul'. But if he's in the process of conversion, go to heart, keep the fires burning.
