[quote name='BonnieLass' date='Apr 12 2006, 11:52 AM']Yeah i know moral publicschoolers  too,  but my other friends are all into drugs and all that junk , and i knew about this one teacher in public school that had 14 year olders having sex acts on stage with adult men at my theater :ohno: , but i do know good public school teachers, but i don't like the way school  are run, most of my friends want to be homeschooled. Im not saying that publicschooles are bad.  don't take this in a bad way. but i do love homeschooling and sleeping in. there was i time i want to go to school but that soon changed. and i have to say it's probably better from some kids to go to school. i have one friend i  tutor in algebra 1 and if i didn't do it she'd never get it done. i wish her mother would send her to school because i can't teacher everyday :(

yeah I know a public schooler, with great morals but she wishes her parents would put her in homeschooling. Because most public schools are trashy, and if they aren't, then the kids that go are. Don't take that the wrong way because not everybody is like that, but it's very hard to deal with peer pressure and allot of other things going on in public schools if your not totally, completely, very strong in your faith. I am homeschooled and not allowed to sleep in, not allowed to wear my pajama's to school, and no it's not easy, and no it's not a free ride. So as you see homeschooling can be a wonderful experience for the child and the parent when the child is young, and when the child gets older it will have much less peer pressure. Yeah and homeschoolers aren't always completely sheltered and not socialy active, we still meet ppl and can hold a conversation. Not to mention it's easier to deal with homeschooling because you can educate your child acording to his or her learning ability, sometimes public schooling is too much of a challenge and sometimes it's not enough, and w/ homeschooling you get to give your child a whole hearted Catholic education. Whew, ok well anyways, sorry if I got completely off subject, I just went on and on.... so anyways, yes I prefer homeschooling in many ways and I believe that homeschooling is the better form of education.

yeah, people seem to think that homeschoolers are so sheltered and yada yada yada, but that's actually quite far from the truth. Last year was my first year in a public school, and everyone thought that I'd go into cultural shock and turn goth or something. But the transition was surprisingly smooth and I actually liked it. That's because homeschooling actually allows you to be MORE social.

Think about this: when you're in school, how much social time do you really get? Yeah, you're surrounded by other kids, but you are all sitting in desks and concentrating on your teacher. all through the day, your focus is on getting from one class to another and doing well in those classes. At the end of the day, if you do any activities, they are with the same kids you've been with all day.

When you're homseschooled, you have more time to do the extra things you want to do. for those extra things, you have to go outside your home, and you usually meet different kids for each of those different extras that you do. As a result, you learn how to socialize and get along with all different types of kids.

Don't get me wrong: I love my school and am quite content to stay there, thank you very much. But homeschooling through my Jr. high years was the best thing I ever did.

Yeah I understand that, thats cool that you went to public schooling. But when they most need homeschooling is during 5-6-7-8th grades, when peer pressure is most hard. And they are still very immature and may not know how to deal with anything, because if you don't educate them with the Catholic faith enough, they won't ever know how to deal with problems. But I think high school is a good time to go to PS so prepare the chlid for college, where in P.S. they can't get behind in papers and tests, either you take it then, or you fail. With allot of homeschoolers since their schedule's are flexable it's easier to procrastinate. That's why you need to keep a good schedule. Anyways, I also get what your saying about more social times in HS then P.S. But when you said you learn how to socialize with different types of kids, that's the same with PS, becase there are so many different kids @ school, but the problem is there's labels, and your pressured to keep your name up, and theirs temptations from other kids like drugs/alcohal/sex and bad company. It is very important for you to not stay with bad company, and in P.S although you can choose your friends, non the less you are always around bad companions. No matter how hard you try in P.S your still spending most of your days in your school season with allot of "bad" kids. ANYWAYS, there I go again...
