6:30pm Easter Vigil

My parish started Easter Vigil at 6:30pm instead of 8pm as liturgically suggested.

Then, he made a joke about what's the difference between terrorists and liturgists... you can negotiate with a terrorist.

Which is weird, because my parish seems to be the most liturgically correct in the whole city.

that's too early for the easter vigil. it would still be light out. We had ours at 8:15 pm. It usually ends up being that when the easter vigil comes after daylights savings time is in effect we have it at 8PM or later and at 7 PM before DST starts like we did last year. The first Vigil i went to in the parish i grew up in was in 1987, the vigil was on the evening of April 18th and we started at 7 PM. I'm living on my own now and in a different parish. I've been to the vigil every year since 1987 except for 1992.

the date of Easter was the same in 1987 and 1992.

Last year i made the discovery that every year A since 1984, Easter has been 3 or 4 days earlier, the pattern will end in 2008.

1984 April 22
1987 April 19
1990 April 15
1993 April 11
1996 April 7
1999 April 4
2002 March 31
2005 March 27
2008 March 23
