Back before our parish had the priests we had now, they only read the required readings (and gender neutralized the ones we did). Now we get all 7 plus the Epistle and Gospel. We also had the fire outside and went inside. It was really windy, and only the Easter candle stayed lit.

Ours was pretty awesome. Vigil started at 9pm and I think I left the Church (after cleaning-up, etc.) at 12:15 or so. We had it all... fire outside, 7 readings, 6 baptisms, 4 for full intiation into the Church, and 2 for the Sacraments of Confirmation and the Eucharist

My local parish started at 8 and lasted 2.5 hours, but I went to downtown Indy for a Tridentine vigil. It started at 9 and lasted until 12:15. Absolutely beautiful.

[quote name='Jutty1224' date='Apr 16 2006, 09:13 AM']the date of Easter was the same in 1987 and 1992.

Last year i made the discovery that every year A since 1984, Easter has been 3 or 4 days earlier, the pattern will end in 2008.

1984 April 22
1987 April 19
1990 April 15
1993 April 11
1996 April 7
1999 April 4
2002 March 31
2005 March 27
2008 March 23

We were supposed to start at 730pm, per the schedule but it started at 745pm. (pretty close)

It was pretty amazing. We had a little over a dozen Baptisms, 5 received into full communion, at least two dozen for Confirmation, and just a little over that for First Eucharist. It was amazing. There was even a couple in their 60s who were received into full communion with the Church. <~~ That was me, blubbering from joy at all those adults coming into our Church. . .into the joy of the Lord.

Happy Easter everyone! He is Risen, indeed!

God bless you!

Wow! Your Easter Vigil started later than mine did. We started at 8 pm. We had six people baptized. and 12 others seeking full entrance into the Catholic Church for a total of 18. :twist:

Our vigil started at 11 and finished right about 1, but we didn't have any Baptisms or Confirmations because it was a monastery. The music was so pretty too!

I  your avatar!

What monastery did you attend? I apologize that I don't know this, but did you just attend the vigil or are you a member (monk, friar, etc)

Happy and blessed Easter.
