I am faithful catholic and the best way to explain it is to quote St. Peter
"Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life". The Holy Catholic Church is the body of Christ where else would one want to be?
God Bless

I was bought up Catholic and turned my back on my faith at 15, drinking, drugs and sex became a way of life for a couple of years. In 2004 I was invited to go on a Catholic Youth retreat, while there during adoration something shifted in me and I began to consider changing the way I lived my life 2 months later I made a promise to God to stay chaste till marriage, attended confession and had completely turned my life around. I couldn't be happier.

Direct your priest friend to the vocations board where he can see all the people who are entering religious life. That is the most awesome sight this side of heaven:
http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/index.php?showtopic=54363

He can also join phatmass and TALK to young people about vocations :)

God the Father

My screen name is God the Father, if that's what you mean by SN.
I'm a youth

And I believe it seems like yesterday we used to rock the show, I laced the track you locked the flow, so far from hangin on the block of dough, Notorious they got to know that, life ain't always what it seem to be, words can't express what you mean to me, even though you're gone, we still a team, through you're family I'll fulfill your dreams, In the future, can't wait to see, if you'll open up the gates for me, reminisce sometimes, night they took my friend, try to black it out but it plays again, when it's real, feelin's hard to conceal, can't imagine all the pain I feel, give anythin to hear half your breath....I know you're still livin you're life, after death.

and will remain faithful to the Catholic Church for the rest of my worldly and otherworldly life because the LORD founded it on his apostle Peter, the first pope. HE has given my heart joy through His grace by means of His Spirit and His Church.
I have found the fullness of TRUTH in Mother Church, and forever will I be bound to her.

Hello everyone;

My friend provide a reply, he read everyone's post. Below is his own comments:
dear Yvan,

I thank you so much for giving me an opportunity to read so many testimonies
from young people involved in searching God through FAITH. All of them are
good and ready candidates to a profound study of God's intervention in the
history of salvation. In all these testimonies, I found no hint to WHY THEY
BELIEVE? Such testimonies seem to be based on tradition or self
appreciation of the Truth. To all your beautiful youngsters, may we suggest
first of all for them to read:

1)-CROSSING THE THRESHOLD OF HOPE by Pope John Paul II
2)-TRUTH AND TOLERENDE by Pope Benedict XVI

It is Pope John Paul II who said that:

the only way to understand God's intervention in the history of salvation
and to get to the root of FAITH is to study Genesis, chapter ONE, chapter
TWO, and Chapter THREE.

The history of salvation in a nutshell is to be found in Genesis I, II, III.
What is revealed in Genesis I, II, III???

Yvan, I will proceed with this study is your youngsters on "phatmass" are
willing to sit down and
study under your guidance. I want you to be their "polorizing instrument"
in God's hand guiding them through this beautiful experience of God in the
history of salvation.

Yvan, you may read Gen I and ask your youngsters to do likewise. Then to
analyse the thouth-content and I will help you to guide them into this
beautiful path of supernatural faith.

With much love in the good Lord,

Your Fr ----------
Although for sake of anonimity I have removed his name (unless he explicitely gives me permission otherwise I think this is best).

Since my friend is opening a door in a manner of speaking, to those who have already posted I would repeat his own questions;
Why do you believe?

What is revealed in Genesis I, II and III?
Which in essence is different than the one I posted; 'why are you faithful?'

 I must admit I have never read Genesis from start to finish, but he has pricked my curiosity. Since he has not posted on this thread himself, and for reasons that are his own which I will respect (I don't believe he has this intent), I would invite the scholars and clergy of phatmass to comment on his statements on Genesis and faith. Yes Cam42, hot stuff, that means you too.

i would also encourage anyone who has questions for my good friend to feel free to post them.

And thanks again everyone, God bless.

My simple reason for why I believe, dont know if this is what Fr is looking for...

Gen 3:22- man forbidden to eat from the tree of life. The tree is then guarded and hidden by a sword of fire so that we may not eat the fruit.

John 6:54-commanded to eat the food that gives eternal life

John 19:30, Matt 27:50, Mk 15:37, Lk 23:46-- The tree reappears with the fruit of eternal life on it.

--and there are numerous Eucharistic miracles to support this claim.

let_go_let_God

The first three chapters of Genesis, the creation and fall of man. In chapter one God creates a foundation for human living, the sun, moon, earth, plants and animals. Then he creates man and woman in His image. *pause, stop, wait, slams on the breaks* God makes humanity in His image. What a profound statement humanity is made in God's image. We were created to be completely bonded to God.

Chapter two leads into the second creation story. Here God created man by carving him from the clay of the ground. Once man was alive, God walked side by side with him laying out the rules and tells him about the garden. Finding that man was alone God created woman from the same substance that man was created from so that man and woman would be equal.

Chapter three, the fall. The serpant comes and tells the woman about the gifts that can be given by eating from the tree of life.
it is only about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden that God said "You shall not eat it or even touch it lest you die." But the serpant said to the woman: "You certainly will not die! No, God knows well that the moment you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods who know what is good and what is bad."

Genesis 3: 3-5
Although the man and woman did not immeadiately physically die from eating the fruit, they separated themselves from God who knows what is best for all of us. In Genesis two, God gave a beautiful garden for man and woman to live in and find fruit easily from, allowing them to live there forever, now that they had separated themselves from God in His garden they needed to leave the garden. Separating themselves now fully physically and spiritually.

God gives all that we need in life, and because of the original fall, we are in need of guidance which is given through His son Jesus.

God bless-
LGLG

I am faithful to the church because I've always beleieved in God and went to church but what is beleif if you dont live it and act it? What does it matter if I say I beleive in God if He is not your obsession? Anything less is a contradiction. Life is hard and I dont know how I could get through it without God. And the promise of eternal salvation is always a plus :D:

Domine ut Videam

Wow..........talk about God being present in my life. I just got back from a 8-day quest for truth....a camp/retreat thing with the Brothers of St.John called Eagle Eye and the theme this year was "What does my Body have to do with me?" We had philosophy and theology classes in which we read the Theology of the Body and explicitly studied Genesis 1 and 2. I am very willing to dive into this quest and learn more truth, because i thirst for the truth. Tell your friend that if he goes to THIS website he can talk to lots of Catholic teens intereted in his questions and willing to dive deeper into their faith as well as talk to Brothers of St. Jean.

-Yours in Christ
Lauren
