An Unwitting Insult To Mary

A close friend of mine (Anglican), whom I had previously believed to be near-Catholic in his beliefs, shocked and hurt me very much yesterday when he compared pilgrimage to a heathen ritual ("Like dancing naked in the rain") and commented that Mary isn't really all that special. We debated over her importance for Christians, but the more he tore her down the unhappier I felt. Please pray that the Holy Mother will guide him tenderly to the truth, or at least inspire him to speak more charitably of her.
