I've seen the movie :idontknow:

I haven't seen the movie, but I doubt it captures the real emotion of the book.

Well either way one really should be exposed to the story.

I read it and wrote an 8 page paper (I think it was around 8 pages, anyway) on it my senior year of highschool. Remarque is a very good writer.

I saw the movie in global class. Don't shoot me (pun intended) but I didn't find it that powerful at all? :idontknow:

I'll try reading the book though.

I read it sophomore year in high school. Don't remember a lot of it at this point. I think I saw the movie in class too.

How can one not be moved by the story?

I don't remember too much of it, so it didn't mean too much to me. Hmm. If I and other classmates weren't moved, is it that important?

God the Father

That book was so boring. It took like four hundred pages just to kill Paul off. And I was supposed to mark up the book with highlighting and everything so I missed twenty points and my first quarter grade was almost totally wrecked. And it was nothing I hadn't already read before. War is bad! Except for rich people! Free love! Have a hit of this, brother!

Wow, that wasn't the type of response i expected. Kinda blunt, don't you think? Oh well :)....
I liked the book. Remarque IS an excellent writer, and I was glad to see an accurate picture of WWI, especially since I didn't know much about it at the time that I read it (four years ago)....
My history teacher this year is huuuuge into WWI, so I know a lot more about it now...

Read the book, then was forced to watch the movie in class over a 3 or four day period...it was a really long movie. I didn't really like it that much...I dunno...maybe it was because it was homework.

we read some of it last year in US & Modern World History. We watched some of the movie too. Pretty graphic!! Great insight...
