Maybe in the eyes of the Church you can be married on the 28th but legally on the first? Guess I don't know what to say, but I'd think you could file officially three days later. no expert.

I was just thinking the same thing. Could a priest marry you on your chosen date, and then get teh "legal" forms filled out on January 1?

If not, you said you wouldn;t be back at work until Jan 3. Why couldn't you get married on Jan 2 (besides that it is a Wednesday)?

Or why not January 5?

Nope. Can't do that. Your priest signs the legal marriage license immediately after the actual marriage ceremony and files it with the state.
