Latin-irish Missal

I definitely will. I probably won't have access to a computer from Saturday until Wednesday, but I'll let you know as soon as I can. Just out of curiosity, why so interested in Irish?

Because I'm full blooded Irish even though 3rd generation in America; and I want to participate in the revival of the language of my ancestors 'tis a beautiful language.

my ideal future family-language situation if my fiance and I can work it out: Irish at home, English in public, and Latin in Church.

That's amazing. I'm not full blooded Irish, but first generation American, on my father's side at least. My dad has actually dedicated a large part of his life to the Irish language and keeping it alive. I'm also pretty involved in the revival. So many of my ancestors died and suffered to keep it alive for us, I feel it's my responsibility to honour that. I wish you and your fiance luck with your plan, I also want to raise my kids on Irish.

That's so neat, Siochain! My family was from a Gaeltacht area in Donegal. I'm a 3rd generation though. Many of the people still spoke Irish when I was over there. It is sooo different. That would be amazing if you found one of these missals ..

I went there on retreat once, just for a couple nights. They have a beautiful guesthouse and grounds. I love Benedictines for that - "Let guests be welcomed as Christ." - St. Benedict

Okay, sorry it took me so long to get back to you... I didn't get the chance to do as much digging as I would have liked, but I did check out some shops, asked around a bit... didn't find anything. I did think of this though, I don't know if you tried it yet, but you should check out the creideamh section at litriocht.com and see if you can find anything.

I might buy both though... did he specify if it's the Old Missal... if it's a "new copy" it might be the new order of the mass... I would like to have one of those too though...

well, I bought the actual missal. my translation won't necessarily be accurate, especially of the parts I didn't translate yet because those aren't psalm verses or found in the New Mass (my two primary sources for the translation were a copy of the New Mass in gaelic and the Church of Ireland psalter I found online, as well as a bit of direct translation attempts and tweaks at the New Mass to put it more in line with the other text, but those are probably where the mistakes will be found hehe)

I don't know, I bought one though, so we shall see... I hope so. But I'll try to buy from the fellow the_rev was talking to as well; maybe I'll end up with one Old Missal and one New Missal; or maybe two Old Missals
