eilis
I definitely will. I probably won't have access to a computer from Saturday until Wednesday, but I'll let you know as soon as I can. Just out of curiosity, why so interested in Irish?
Aloysius
Because I'm full blooded Irish even though 3rd generation in America; and I want to participate in the revival of the language of my ancestors 'tis a beautiful language. my ideal future family-language situation if my fiance and I can work it out: Irish at home, English in public, and Latin in Church. eilis
That's amazing. I'm not full blooded Irish, but first generation American, on my father's side at least. My dad has actually dedicated a large part of his life to the Irish language and keeping it alive. I'm also pretty involved in the revival. So many of my ancestors died and suffered to keep it alive for us, I feel it's my responsibility to honour that. I wish you and your fiance luck with your plan, I also want to raise my kids on Irish. I'll poke around, talk to some priests, check out some bookstores, see if I can find anything for you. Honestly, I'd love to have one also.
That's so neat, Siochain! My family was from a Gaeltacht area in Donegal. I'm a 3rd generation though. Many of the people still spoke Irish when I was over there. It is sooo different. That would be amazing if you found one of these missals ..
eilis
Oh, wow, I'm going to be in Donegal tomorrow! It's possibly my favorite place in Ireland.

Chiquitunga
You might also try asking St. Joseph's Abbey, mentioned in the email from the Latin Mass Society. I went there on retreat once, just for a couple nights. They have a beautiful guesthouse and grounds. I love Benedictines for that - "Let guests be welcomed as Christ." - St. Benedict
my ideal future family-language situation if my fiance and I can work it out: Irish at home, English in public, and Latin in Church.
You guys should move to Ireland in a Traditional Latin Mass parish! eilis
Okay, sorry it took me so long to get back to you... I didn't get the chance to do as much digging as I would have liked, but I did check out some shops, asked around a bit... didn't find anything. I did think of this though, I don't know if you tried it yet, but you should check out the creideamh section at litriocht.com and see if you can find anything. the_rev
This is what I got in an email response today: Hi, I understand your friend is looking for a Latin Irish missal. I have a new copy of An Leabhair Aifrinn, 1625 pages, leather bopund, gold leafed pages, five silk markers. I can let him have it for 50 euros plus postage. If he is interested, please ask him to contact me. Regards, Kieron Wood
Aloysius
could you PM me an email or something? although I do believe I just found one for 10 Euros on litriocht.com I might buy both though... did he specify if it's the Old Missal... if it's a "new copy" it might be the new order of the mass... I would like to have one of those too though...
Chiquitunga
Are those ones on litriocht.com of the Traditional Mass?
Pio Nono
JMJ 5/10 - Bl. Damien of Molok'ai Any progress on translating the rest of the Canon? That'd be shweet.
Aloysius
well, I bought the actual missal. my translation won't necessarily be accurate, especially of the parts I didn't translate yet because those aren't psalm verses or found in the New Mass (my two primary sources for the translation were a copy of the New Mass in gaelic and the Church of Ireland psalter I found online, as well as a bit of direct translation attempts and tweaks at the New Mass to put it more in line with the other text, but those are probably where the mistakes will be found hehe)
Are those ones on litriocht.com of the Traditional Mass?
I don't know, I bought one though, so we shall see... I hope so. But I'll try to buy from the fellow the_rev was talking to as well; maybe I'll end up with one Old Missal and one New Missal; or maybe two Old Missals
