12/24 - Vigil of Christmas

Yeah, the topic is a myth - my parish had its first Tridentine Mass in forever this morning, and there were 50-70 people who were there. And most of them were young.

Pray for your pastors.

sweet deal

As a 17 year old I can tell you I want the latin mass

There was an interesting piece in the NYtimes a month or two ago about how the youth are attracted to it....

I will be attending a Latin midnight Mass tonight, I'm certainly not old. My first ever Catholic Mass was in 1995, so I cant say I am in it just to get back to what I'm comfortable with or grew up with.

I went to one and I am not old +hip breaks+... It was alright. I may not be clamoring to soley attend it, but I don't mind it being offered more frequently.

All I see from Catholic youth at my university is enthusiasm for the Tridentine Mass. They really, really want it.

Almost to a person, it is the old liberal fuddy-duddies (those who lived through Vatican II) who do not want the Tridentine Mass. Of course, if they had their way we would all be ordained priests, marrying transvestites on weekends, and watching partial-birth abortions live on TV for light entertainment, all funded by the tax-payer and blessed by a fallible, female pope.

I agree that many young people like the Latin Mass (Novus Ordo). We've had it here once a month for the past two school years and attendance has grown quite a bit. We also have a parish where they celebrate the Tridentine Mass regularly. There are even some older people who attend these masses.

Ya that is a myth, lol. I am glad you have a Tridentine Mass now.
We've had 'em here in GR for at least 13 years. And now after the Pope's Motu Proprio we have had at my parish baptisms, Holy Day Masses, and more in the Tridentine Rite. And a nearby parish also has weekday Mass in the Tridentine Rite.

Its fantastic!
And there are way more 30-somethings and younger attending these Masses in Grand Rapids just as everyplace else.

Funny thing about that common myth... The only people that I really have heard grumble about the Latin have all been older people.
