Well, since when I've asked him before, his thoughts were orange and white (his school colors) or blue and gold (Michigan colors; also my high school colors, which I don't want to use) that hasn't really gotten me very far. I'm thinking about asking my lil sister about her thoughts on it, since she'll be the Maid of honor and have to actually WEAR the colors.
I was stuck between dark red (and no other colours) and deep blue (with peach). My fiancé suggested I flip a coin.

What you do, if you're down to two colours is flip, and then pretend you've made the decision. If you feel pleased or neutral you stay with it. If you feel disappointed you switch.

I realized I was uncomfortable with the bridesmaids wearing red (as it is the colour of the robes the candidates for Baptism wear at the Easter vigil), and with my wedding looking super Christmas-y during advent.

Joey and I went with our favorite colors- Purple (for him) and Yellow (for me) which also happen to be complementary colors, which is nice.

Oh, and also, we started this podcast :) Come join us!
I talked to my sister, tonight, and we've come to the conclusion that the color should be emerald green.
I love green! :-) My colours were sage green & champagne gold, because some of the flowers embroidered on my dress were those colours. So my maid-of-honour (my big sister) wore champagne and the other 2 wore sage green. But my flowers ended up having purple in them (also in my dress, and it was Advent).

May 21, when is yours?

So, I've been looking up lists of songs on the internet to get ideas. On the lists titled "Catholic" I have found show tunes! <_< And that's on mulitiple lists...one that went on about the sacredness of marriage and this ceremony just before the list.

Wedding songs I've been asked to sing include, "Grace of My Life" by Brian Littrell, and "This Day" by Jadon Lavik.

You were married during Advent?
...
What did you feed people? Did you use fewer/no flowers? How did you decorate (esp the church)? Where did you take photos?

I'm curious, because my fiancé and I are (God willing) having our wedding during Advent, and I want it to be seasonally appropriate.

May 20.

Oh, and as for songs, I'm trying to think what we used. The only secular song we used was "Follow Me" by John Denver; I just love that song, and Bart agreed that it could be used. We used "Ode to Joy" for the bridesmaids coming in, and I can't remember the name of the bridal processional - it was the one used for Princess Diana (we used the counterpart to that for the recessional). We used "Ave Maria" for the seating of the mothers & grandmothers. And I don't remember what we used for the presentation of the gifts.

Yep - exactly 1 week before Christmas Eve (the date was actually chosen by my priest). :) The only flowers we had were the bouquets & boutonnières. We didn't really decorate the church; there was a creche set up in front of the altar, and the Advent wreath already there. They allowed us to have the white altar cloth, but thwas really all we did. We did photos in the church (funny story - we had 2 photographers on my wedding day because the first one had food poisoning and had to call in his partner). The reception was in the parish hall, and we ate crab cakes, meatballs, veg, and I think there was some chicken (I don't eat chicken, but I think it was served). And we had a pineapple cake. We did have some flower petals on the tables, but no actual arrangements; instead, we had candles. My dad kept asking me if I wanted flower arrangements at the church and hall, and I had to keep explaining that you don't really have flowers in the church during Advent ^_^ (my parents are Methodist). Oh, and the bouquets were simple: just a few small purple & pink lilies (alstromeria), and some white roses (they matched the flowers on my dress, and were liturgically appropriate )

I think the only flowers in the church that either of my brothers had were the arrangements in honor of the deceased memebers of the family, and the girls' boquets. And that's all i really care about having, either...
...that way they'll all look at me. :ninja: (I am sooooo just kidding! I'll be lucky if I don't fall on my face)

I was so afraid of tripping on my dress! I actually did trip on it going up the steps to the altar, but Bart was the only one to notice. One of my bridesmaids said that if I tripped & fell, she'd fall in a showy way so people wouldn't notice me falling as much.

Thanks for bringing this back. I'm hoping that my fiance and I can start to get things set soon. Right now it's all dependant on where we get a church. I really want to get married at my home parish but there's a pull to get married in Duluth which is inbetween both families.

God bless-

hehe I don't miss wedding planning at all. Between 40 hrs of work a week, 18 credit hours of school a week, writing a Thesis, and being 1,200+ miles from the place of the wedding during all the planning, I don't miss it at all. I did the majority of the planning alone. Micah helped with the liturgy and music, but the rest was pretty much all me from ordering the cake, food, decorations, decorating lol, and housing rofl It was nuts. But the Church was beautiful during the Christmas season.

The craziness all melted away that day though. All the stress went away when I put on my dress, I had been freaking out before I put it on. It didn't go perfectly lol Micah picked up his ring to give to me instead of picking up my ring to give to me lol He stepped on my train a few times lol Fr. Pike almost forgot to take Communion, himself. My mom was late ROFL, but we didn't start without her! All in all it was actually perfect, at least I see it that way.

Bridesmaids processional was Bach's Sleepers Awake
Bride's processional was Ave Maria (which Clara, jyoung (sp?) from phatmass sung beautifully
Communion hymn was Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence

lol I forget the other songs lol
