Norseman82
i got this from another site Possibly the most athletic Pope in history, John Paul II in his youth played soccer as a goalie, took daring swims in the flooded Swaka River, and enjoyed skiing, hiking, mountain climbing and kayaking. I also read in the New World in a column that he played goalie in hockey as well. BTW, is that Bibleman in your avatar?

Didacus
Didn't John Paul II have a swimming pool built at the Vatican?
Yes he did! The story goes that when someone commented on the cost of the pool, Pope Jean-Paul II told him that 'Another conclave would cost more than a pool'! (if you recall, there already had been two conclaves in a very short period of time) That's my papa!
