We read this in my youth group a few years ago.

What do you think of it? does anyone know if this dream/vision is approved by the Church?
towards the end there is a quote from Jesus.... from Oct. 2, 1970 :detective:

Is this site a trustworthy resource?

It seems weird to me

The site those come from is from a group that promotes Our Lady's "appearances" at Bayside, NY. Note the quotation marks -- the apparitions are not only false but also outright CONDEMNED by the Church.

As for the letter from the soul in hell, I really couldn't say one way or another.

I also found the letter [mod]Link removed. --Era Might[/mod]. I don't know if this site is any more reliable

As that wonderful G.M. Hopkins poem illustrates, we don't pray out of fear of Hell or even hope of Heaven, but simply because His great love has inspired love in us. No other reason. There is a reason why the Church has condemned the Bayside happenings. They're not about faith, but scare-mongering.

Bishop Mugavero's condemnation of the apparitions:

1) "No credibility can be given to the so-called 'apparitions' reported by Veronica Lueken and her followers."

2) "The 'messages and other related propaganda contain statements which, among other things, are contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church, undermine the legitimate authority of bishops and councils and instill doubts in the minds of the faithful..."

3) "Because of my concern for their spiritual welfare, members of Christ's faithful are hereby directed to refrain from participating in the 'vigils' and from disseminating any propaganda related to the 'Bayside apparitions.' They are also discouraged from reading any such material."

4) "Anyone promoting this devotion in any way, be it by participating in the 'vigils,' organizing pilgrimages, publishing or disseminating the literature related to it, is contributing to the confusion which is being created in the faith of God's people, as well as encouraging them to act against the determinations made by the legitimate pastor of this particular Church (c. 212, para. 1)."

P.S. I find it revelatory that the story about 'Anne' follows the exact same format as one particular Chick tract.

Everybody's got an apparation to talk about these days.

But Bernadette is still the most beautiful visionary.

Besides St. John of the Cross says we need to put more faith in God than in visions and extraordinary occurances. Its like there are so many people who, trade in their astrology and horoscopes for the "secrets" of the apparitions.

This is not a faith of courage, but a faith of cowardice.
