Guest parojarvi
Good afternoon. My daughter has arthrogryposis multiplex congenita. It is a joint/muscle disorder. She receives free care at Shriners. I believe our local Shriners provides the best care on earth for her condition. My question is, are we horrible for going there? Is it anti-Catholic? I know Catholics are not to become Masons and Shriners. But I have to say all this free care, her walker, her crutches, her loaner wheelchairs(which she could drive just fine but refused to as she wants to walk!)are just wonderful for her. Her braces, splints, everything. This is the only orthopedic children's hospital in our area. I have written many priests and have not been answered. I hope here I get some answers. Oh, and my daughter just turned 4. She has been going for therapy weekly since she was 6 weeks old, fresh out of the NICU.
Pio Nono
JMJ 4/23 - St. George parojarvi, The way you describe your situation, you shouldn't feel bad about receiving free care from the Shriner's Hospital. You're not a bad Catholic for doing so. Please know of my prayers for you and your daughter; peace. Yours, Pio Nono
Theoketos
I just want to second the opinion above. If anything you are giving them the chance to exercise true Charity.
Thy Geekdom Come
Just so we can make you even more comfortable, I agree with the previous two posts. It is one thing to support the Masons or the Shriners financially or philosophically. It's quite another to use their free services as an organization. On the same note, we have no moral qualms using the numerous free genealogy sites run by the Mormons. God bless, Raphael
