kujo
After seeing Iron Man and enjoying it more than I thought I would, I began to think about the movie I am most excited about this summer, The Dark Knight. I am a HUGE Batman fan and thought that Batman Begins breathed new-life into a franchise that was almost extinct in the wake of the nauseating Batman & Robin with George Clooney at the helm fighting Schwartzenager's Mr. Freeze (ugh...I just threw up a little thinking about it). Anyway, with all that has been made of Heath Ledger's performance and its possible link to the depression which lead to his overdose, it's fair to say that all eyes have been and will continue to be fixed on this movie when it comes out in July. But, some are saying that the media-scrutiny and hype surrounding this movie will build unfairly-high expectations and could end up making the actual movie a disappointment similar to Superman Returns. So, I ask you...what do you think? I am not afraid of my own reaction to the movie because I honestly believe that Christian Bale, under the direction Christopher Nolan, will bang out another solid performance and that Heath Ledger's performan will be as advertised and only increase the interest in this series. But I've been wrong before... For some trailers (but not the new one found in the previews for Iron Man click here. CatherineM
I guess I just hope that Ledger's part will end up being a good one since it will be his last.

I mean, he had retractable ice skates for pete sakes! Not only that, but the Batsuit had nipples! NIPPLES!!!!! And Arnold Schwartzenagger as Mr. Freeze? I mean, was it just me, or did your ears bleed when he looked into the camera and said "Chiillll..."in that Governator accent!?!?!?! And, please....Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl? Really? Ugh.....terrible...just awful.
So, will this atone for Brokeback?
Probably. I mean, God would be a Batman fan, IMHO. I actually read a book comparing Batman and Superman to the Old and New Testament, respectively... Socrates
I'm seriously looking forward to this flick, which will likely be the greatest Batman movie ever. All the buzz from people "in the know" seems to be extremely positive, and everyone says Ledger's performance is amazing. Check out the new trailer here, if you haven't seen it at the movies! I'm also looking forward to the upcoming direct-to-DVD Batman anime project, Gotham Knight, almost as much as TDK itself. See more here! Edited May 6, 2008 by Socrates
Well, it was an article in a book talking about the Christian references and influences in the Matrix trilogy. The main point was the Batman represents the Old Testament while Superman represents the New. It's a book at my mom's house, but when I go home next, I'll grab it and post the contents. Now the other gay cowboy hasn't done croutons with his life since then...I think he will always be known for that almost exclusively (except for Donnie Darko )
