tinytherese
I really don't think that it's a bad comparison. Ironically though, far more human beings have been and still are murdered than those who died on 9/11, yet when does the media bring those numbers up? However, I am offended by your comparison of abortion to terrorist attacks. No matter how you feel about abortion, which for the record, I believe is a horrible sin on the head of our society, It is nothing more than extreme emotional appeal to compare it to a terrorist attack. I admire your fervor but I think even you know that it's a bit extreme to use that comparison. Gaining support by use of emotion is the tactic of the "horrid" liberals, stick to bringing people through love and compassion in Jesus.[/quote] "it is nothing more than extreme emotional appeal" No, I believe sincerely that abortion generates a "horrid" result on a daily basis. You actually validate my point. We don't have the same extreme emotional reaction because it is not in our faces on a daily basis. It is the silent holocaust. Nonetheless, it is horrid violence against humanity. It is equally horrible, in fact it is more of a horrible act to take the life of thousands of babies as they sleep comfortably in the womb. Don't be brainwashed by the media. "I think even you know that it's a bit extreme to use that comparison" Is abortion softer than terrorism? Is it extreme to compare the two? Absolutely not. I don't regret it, not even after thinking about for a bit. Flannery O'Conner once said that in her books she uses many examples that her audience finds shocking because it is the only way to get through to a culture that has grown numb. Extreme? No. Effective? Evidently. Sincerely, P-Fex

But I am inspired by your deep care for the issue.
Pontifex
Incidentally, I do want to clarify that the comparison does nothing in my mind to diminish the horrible act of terrorism that occurred on that dreadful day of 9/11/01. The sense that I get from my critic is that the comparison of abortion to that dreadful event somehow minimalizes it or lowers its dreadfulness. THAT, I am offended by totally. The more I think about it, it is a completely justifiable comparison. Holding up the two together does nothing to diminish either one of them. If it generates emotion in a new way so be it. My intention is not to manipulate emotion but to communicate what I see as an equally horrible act that many people are willing to forget and let die for the price of gas and empty rhetoric for change from a blind man.
