As you know I am creating a new Catholic website for human sexuality and have been working on it a while with a group of Catholic professionals. The following is the layout I have for the forums and am looking for feedback. Can you think of any other forums that could be a part of a sexuality/marriage/family life forum?

1. Welcome to our Forum Group

Introductions and Announcements Forum
This forum contains all of the basic information on the work of the group and policies for the forum. It also is where new members may start a thread to introduce themselves and where announcements will be made.

Prayer Request Forum
This forum contains prayer requests made by members and staff.

2. In the Image and Likeness of God Group

Human Sexuality
A forum for basic questions about human sexuality and morality.

The Marriage Bed
Questions about sex within marriage.

NFP Forum
A forum to discuss natural family planning.

3. Marriage and Family Life Group

“My spouse is driving me crazy” Forum
Forum to talk about married life

“My kids are driving me crazy” Forum
Forum to talk about children.

“My superior is driving me crazy” Forum
The Catholic Church is a family. This is a forum to talk about religious life and vocations and those who model the heavenly marriage of the Church to Jesus.

4. Locked Forums Group

Women’s Forum
Forum for women only. 50 post minimum.

Men’s Forum
Forum for men only. 50 post minimum.

Moderator Forum
Forum for moderators only.

5. Special Forums Group

Everything Else Forum – General Talk

Feedback and Suggestions
Forum for leaving feedback, suggestions, and asking for help.

PS - This is the group mission statement which received full approval of our board of directors:

The CoCreation Group exists to offer a ministry that will serve to give Christian answers to questions about family, marriage life, and human sexuality. The Group will create and maintain a safe and open environment where anyone, including non-Christians, may ask any questions they have, engage in conversation, and receive answers that recognize the dignity of the human person from our professional staff of moderators and administrators. The Group will use the Internet as its primary means of communication with the world.

I take it you're done with your FUS course...or taking a break...

Looks good in general. :)

Actually... if I may suggest, I think a 'less is more' approach is better. If you start subdividing too much you begin to alienate too many people. For example, single people may never venture into the 'Marriage Bed' forum, and they may have a lot to add or differing opinions.

I know when I come to phatmass, I only really check the open mic and debate tables. Sometimes transmunde. If you start splitting up too much, there will be less talking.

I think setting off the NFP board is good. I wouldn't separate too much between the religious and the married, just because often the religious have good advice for the married and vice-versa.

Just my .02

Lol, and I thought I was being conservative in the number of forums. Hmm...thank you for your input, I will consider your ideas.

It sounds like it's really coming together nicely!

The only thing I would suggest, is maybe a section for teens and young adults. I can't imagine that this would need to be too elaborate an area, but just something that explains the benefits of saving sex for marriage, and the value of celebrating their time of bodily innocence. Theology of the Body for Teens could be the base for it.

I agree. One of the groups who think/discuss sex the most would be the teenagers, I'd think. what with all the hormones and peer pressure and popular culture and whatnot. I think a section of the forum for teenagers/young adults would be quite helpful.

It's interesting that you mention that - our teen chastity director and her crew is working on a whole separate teen website. The board decided it would be inappropriate to have teens on this website so a whole different youth oriented website is being put together with a style that will better reach teens.

Consider having a forum on how to deal with your spouse's family such as the mother-in-law. THat is usually a hot topic on any board. :)
