dominicansoul
no he isnt even a prophet of Antichrist, he is not the false prophet, nor a forerunner. Antichrist will be born in Syria he is more than once figuratively mentioned as Assur in the Bible. His rise will begin through military victories at a young age, not some false sort of deception or trickery. Read the Secret of La Salette, the Major and Minor Prophets and Revelation to learn more about him
Thanks kafka!!!
Akalyte
How do you know he does not fit the description? For all we know he's got all the characteristics, he just hasnt shown them yet. He's getting praise and honor only God should receive. For all we know he could completely fit the description once elected.

"Many Catholics sadly continue to be misled by the false and unapproved "secret" drawn up by an embittered Melanie Calvat in 1879, a gross distortion of the original version she wrote in 1851. Others, despite their good will, have simply felt unable to give it their credence – providentially it would seem." Besides that, we aren't bound to place any faith in private revelations. So letting that be part of our determing factors is a matter of pure preference.
lilac_angel
from the same site: "the Law, recalled by the Blessed Virgin at La Salette, is purely Judaic. It is of the Old Testament. However, the greatest amazement felt on reading this is the use of the first person singular: "I gave you six days to work, I kept the seventh for Myself, and no one wishes to grant it to Me." Is not that strange? It is the literal renewal of a verse from Exodus (31.15). The Blessed Virgin Mary, therefore, takes the place of God; She is enthroned and She legislates, assuming responsibility for God’s Law as though it were Her own" So wait, let me get this straight.. is she saying that we need to keep Saturday as Sabbath again? And that Mary gave us those days to begin with? I'm confused... =\

And he'd certainly have a lot more power than Michael Jackson once he gets elected. =P But yeah, I need to brush up on the Prophets and such. zwergel88
I have nothing really intelligent to add to this discussion, I just wanted to say that I think this notion is ridiculous. Like seriously, you have got to be kidding me! Obama is cool and I am voting for him.....

So letting that be part of our determing factors is a matter of pure preference.
At this point I get the feeling you are arguing just to argue. First off thank you for stating the obvious that we are not bound by private revelations. Second off that site you quote above is in error. The secret of La Salette has been generally accepted by the Faithful for many years now and that is a manifestation of the sensum fidelium. Third, ideally a true private revelation is meant to clarify the Deposit of Faith, it doesnt add to the Deposit of Faith, and through the subtle wisdom of the Blessed Virgin Mary that is exactly what her secret does. It clarifies many of the verses of Scripture about the end times, Antichrist, etc. Fourth I also mentioned Antichrist is found in several books of the Bible and that should be the main source for information about him. lilac_angel
It's the very first site on the Secret of La Salette that comes up on Google; it's not like I was searching for hours to discount your argument. Subtle wisdom does not seem equivalent to Mary claiming to be the God of Moses, so I hope that site is blatantly inaccurate and lying in its quotes. I appreciate the judgment of why I am continuing to question, but no, it's not accurate. Edited August 17, 2008 by lilac_angel

I've got the whole secret right in front of me translated by my friend from the French and I dont see it anywhere. In any case that quote seems taken out of context. If the private revelation stated something blatantly false like the above then it surely would have been rejected a long time ago. So I would have to say that in spite that it might have some truth in other parts of it, I would altogether avoid that sight.
