So you can't see the hypocrisy there?

I don't see how this is anything different than what Presidents have been doing for years.

And that makes it right, how?

Edit:

Remember, too, that Obama is member of a party that is against school vouchers.
yea so their daughter is getting some spiffy private education while Obama then makes everyone else go to a public school that the government can indoctrinate i mean er teach.
Please don't make such generalized statements about public school education. It's offensive to those of us who attended public schools.

How is it offensive? I've been public schooled my whole life, and I could personally vouch for the indoctrination that several of the teachers I've had have tried to force on me. Thankfully, my folks taught me to not believe everything I hear, which is (unfortunately) not the case with all public school students.

It makes it moot. There's nothing wrong with Obama, who has the means, to put his children in the best schools available. Good for him.

How is that any different than, say, schools in the South that still teach fundamentalist-creationism?
I tried to get a clear understanding of his position on school choice/vouchers, but everything I read was wishy-washy and unclear. If he toes the NEA line, he is against vouchers, against homeschooling (unless the parents are certified and use gov't curriculum) and against school choice. Therefore, he is in favor of the continuation of the government monopoly on education unless you are rich enough to opt out. Some change.
from what i understand, he is against school vouchers.

every parent (okay, every parent worth their salt) wants to be able to send their kids to the best schools. unfortunately since school vouchers are still being put on the back burner by the NEA and every politician in their pockets, parents aren't getting that choice.

my kids will be either home schooled or go to private school. my parents skimped and saved so all their kids could go to Catholic schools. i will do my best to make sure my kids can have the same.
In many places around the country the notion of "school choice" is a joke. I'm sure all the senators, members of congress, their staffs, aides, the media etc in Washington, DC do send their kids to private schools. What about the poor in the District who have no choice?

No, it's not petty. It should not be seen as elitist for Obama's kids to go to a private school. If everyone had the opportunity to go where they chose then it would not be seen as anything other than "normal."
And I can vouch, after attending and graduating from the public school system, receiving a well rounded education.

Do you think private schools are free from teachers who teach their own beliefs?

meh. i've done both. k-8 was public, 9-12 was private. i honestly don't know what was better. it was nice though to go to school and be able to be uplifted in your faith rather than having to set it aside or ignore it.

Basing a generalization on anecdotal experience is logically fallacious. :)

Maybe it's not different. So? Who cares? If they are the same, that should make you feel worse about it, not better.

Justifying one idiotic action by saying "Look! They are just as bad!"

is also logically fallacious.

I never had to do that while I was still Catholic. If anything, people were fascinated by it.
