I'm not a fan of our governor, our economy, hmmm and a lot of other stuff. But I love the Upper Peninsula! Heaven on earth. [/quote] UP = Heaven on earth??? icelandic_iceskater
you clearly have bitten into a pastie [the food] cooked over an open camp fire, amid the woods of the lake Superior North shore. With the nearest signs of electricity at least 15 miles away [where there also happens to be an old light station.] The sound of the waves crashing onto the shore, sure the mosquitoes are eating you alive... but you don't care. The beauty of the Lake Superior sunset has rendered you unable to even think negative thoughts... they also have purdy good fudge.
fides quarens intellectum
actually, i have spent some time in the UP in the summer - there's a really neat little place on a lake up there in Muniseng (check-spell) that i like. but that's in the summer. Paddington
I went to Marquette once to visit a friend. Beautiful! We scuba'd and hiked a lil wooded mountain, dove off a 20 foot rock and saw the pictured rocks. The drive was great too. 2 bad things: bear in a cage at some gas station, and I paid to experience a "mystery spot." It was a completely lame rip-off. icelandic_iceskater
yea, most of St. Ignace/Mackinac city is a rip-off. Especially the fudge & pasties (<the food). They're so much better & cheaper further north or west. "Shoots and Ladders" is pretty tight. Its up by Houghton and Hancock, its basically a HUGE playground built into the side of a hill. Pretty much amazing.
