philothea
Hey, I'm running free BSD! Kinda. (I think that's what Mac OS X is based on.) The little demon logo BSD has is cute.

philothea
Uhhhhmmmm.... Berkley S-something D-something. Gah! I can't believe I've forgotten. It's a kind of UNIX. Which is a kind of operating system. (I'm not really helping, am I?)
CatherineM
The last computer languages I took in school were Cobol and Fortran. Anything after that is Greek to me. I still try to find a place to put punch cards in my laptop.

HolyPhoenix
freebsd is suppose to be ok. Let me know about it's stability though. For now I will stick with Linux, until bsd operating systems grow a bit. Not that they are much different than linux anyways, besides the fact that they are not spread out between thousands of builds. They remain loyal to 3 builds, which you want to pick based on what you are doing. They still use linux desktop environments.
jeffpugh
I'd only stick w/ Linux... particularly Ubuntu... some day, I hope to build/get a machine I can nearly perfectly run linux on... nearly perfectly, cause there is always updates and stuff, but i mean, have all basic functions work, and be able to emulate my favourite windows games w/out slowdown (just takes a nice processor, and a working driver for the graphics card)... downside for any freeware OS, drivers have to be coded somehow, and lots of times, it takes someone to reverse engineer, someone else to discover the findings and code it. :/ Maybe we should start protesting to companies to start covering for us Linux-ers.
