I never said it did have any escatological relevance. I'm just concerned about people's reactions based on what these ancient "prophets" have told them. A person is (usually) smart and could recognize these things as being historically interesting, but people are dumb panicky animals and if some of them think the world's ending they will act like the world's ending. looting, burning cars, etc

simply put, are any of you folks planning on laying in supplies for when the world loses its mind?

Oh thank you, dear professor.

I predict that Oprah will begin to accumulate more and more power, building her own army and try to overthrow the existing world order. This will all come to a head in 2012, resulting in a clash of the titans, with Obama having to don the Braveheart-esque blue paint and lead his troops into battle against Oprah and her minions.

I heard on the news today that Oprah was the only famous person who has contributed money to the inauguration. Do you suppose they have had a falling out?

Who knows? I wasn't even aware that one could donate to the inauguration. What does it cost?

No need to stock up. Just be sure to get rid of the Zunes and other Microsoft stuff.

Just curious, with all the increasing freak-outs across the globe about the supposed end of the world in 2012 (I'll have just graduated..figures.. ), has Rome made any sort of statement?

maximum of $50,000. Magic Johnson only gave $25,000.

Agreed. It is one of those intruiging history channel topics. In all seriousness I think all we can expect is a little bit more ruckus than usual.

Sadly, I think you're right. There will be the usual millenial-nutjobs out, with their aluminum foil hats and what not. We, the faithful, must not find ourselves swayed by such lunacy.
