Yes, thanks. Did Anscombe write about Just War Doctrine too? I remember reading something by him back in an English class and I think it was about that... -Katie
She wrote a sathing and brilliant essay on President Truman receiving on honorary doctorate at Oxford for his actions during WWII

Saint Therese

I heard it was very hard too. But surely, worthwhile. I think Pope Benedict's stuff is hard to, but not impossible. I heard that he dictates his books in entirety. No mistakes.

i heard it's a hard read (kinda) :idontknow: i have a hard enough time reading Pope Benedict's stuff.
I want to read more JPII stuff too. What I've read of his makes far more sense than a lot of other things. But I suppose part of that is personal syle/preference. I'm kinda having a JPII love fest atm. Unfortunately, I also have a friendly/unfriendly list of saints, which is probably not a good idea. Too many on the unfriendly list lately! -Katie

He writes his books and then adds references.

that's what I heard when I was little anyway.

I actually think that's why I bought them in the first place, I wanted to see what he was on about :)

Oh, it's a lame function of my mind, categorizing "nice, approachable" saints vs "harder, mean" saints. Examples: "Nice": St. Anthony of Padua "Mean" St. Augustine. I know it's not theologically sound.... -Katie

I'm actually kind of annoyed/highly ammused.

How in the world did you all manage to derail my non-sense thread? Good lord. Is this what it feels like to have your thread invaded with nonsense?

I feel like a horrid human being now that I know what it's like

I guess I'm just more confused than anything

lol, i do the same thing, except separated into 'hard core' and 'soft core' saints. ya know, 'soft' core is like St. Therese to me (ya ya ya, you St. Therese groupies); and 'hard core' is like St. Thomas Aquinas or Pope St. Pius X. :hehe:
