Jason, you and your family (especially little Addie) are in mine and Micah's prayers.

Just found this out. In France, on 2/18 the Feast Day of St. Bernadette is celebrated.

Consider it prayed for. :saint:

Prayers through Our Lady of Lourdes!

I'm glad that you were given that doctor.

A funny thing about Adventist hospitals---when i was there getting a tracheostomy, their chaplain, knowing i was Catholic, gave me a rosary! I think he gave my family rosaries too.

I'm in the middle of a novena to Our Lady of Hope. I'll be adding you and yours to my intentions for the rest of it. (You've been in my parish's intentions book for 2 months now.)

I have continued to pray for her. It is a bit tricky though since when I add her name into my DM chaplet, my mind immediately turns to my two year old niece who is also Addie, so then I have to readjust the thought :)

Hello Pham-

Just a bit of an update.

We went for pre-op yesterday (Friday). Got the financial part taken care of, then went to meet with the nurse practitioner. We waited for a bit for her. She went over the surgery, we signed consent forms, went over any last minute questions.

We have to be at Loma Linda at 6am on Wed. Her surgery is scheduled for 7:30am. She has to finish her last bottle by midnight Tues (going into Wed). She can have up to 4 oz of pedialyte if she gets fussy btwn midnight and 4am.

They schedule operations on age, the youngest going first. So it looks like she will be the first of the day. She gets REALLY grumpy when she is hungry and will not just fall asleep or 'forget'. So, we are hoping for smooth transitions there.

We then went to upstairs and waited a bit. We then spoke with the anesthesiologist (sp?). They will put a mask on Addie to put her to sleep, then will administer all the IV's after she is asleep. They will have her on morphine after the surgery, but will slowly transition to tylenol. They also went over the drainage tube that will drain the heart area of fluids that can sometimes form after this type of surgery.

We then went to another room and waited for Addie to get a chest x-ray. She was really good and did not move at all.

Then we went downstairs and Addie got blood drawn. not fun. She was a good girl considering she probably felt like a human pin cushion.

We spoke with a nurse practioner again, and she went over where we will be during the surgery.. Basically, we will be downstairs in the lobby; however, they have this device (very similar to those beeping/vibrating paging units that restruants use) It has a screen as well and is updated in real time from the OR. It will serve to give us text updates and the like.

They also gave us a DVD to watch at home. It goes over everything! It was really sweet...as I was watching it with Peyton (trying to get her to understand and feel confident that her sister will be ok) there was a part that says 'if you are home with your baby after surgery, and you have questions, please call xxx-xxx-xxxx....'. Peyton asked that I rewind that part. She got a pen and paper and wrote down the number for us to have in case we 'have questions and need to help sister'.

Peyton's principal talked to us and asked if it would be ok if they took the whole school to Church to pray the Rosary for Addie on Wednesday. We, of course, said yes and thank you.

More updates to follow..

JMJ,

Jason

Ok... maybe I'm hormonal, but I seriously just started to cry when I read the bit about the whole school going to pray for Addie on Wednesday.

Peyton is so sweet, taking down the number "just in case." What a loving big sister.

I'm glad that Loma Lima is going over things so thoroughly with you, I am sure it helps set your minds at ease somewhat. And on top of all that you have about a gazillion people praying for Addie (and you, Shea, and Peyton). Glad all the pre-op went smoothly; just a show of what to expect on Weds.

Many prayers. (My house is totally clean and you know that that means. ;) )
