Saint Therese
I think the biggest problem with the bishops is worldliness. I think if there were a renewal and repentance in that are the rest would naturally follow.
Nihil Obstat
It shouldn't really have to issue a declaration on this, but sadly even if it does issue one I think that the Latin bishops in the United States will simply ignore it.
Out of curiosity, do the Eastern bishops have to deal with anything like this? If so, how do they handle it?
johnnydigit
"The Church's law is very clear," said Archbishop Burke, who was appointed last year by Pope Benedict XVI as the head of the Church's highest court, the Apostolic Signatura. "The person who persists publicly in grave sin is to be denied Holy Communion, and it [Canon Law] doesn't say that the bishop shall decide this. It's an absolute." booya! does this mean i can absolutely tackle them in Mass, thus keeping them from sacrilegious Communion, from defiling the Body of Christ, from damning their own souls to hell? would it be wrong to reprimand them in a stern, audible voice when they ask why they've been denied? would it be wrong to say, "Jesus would rather suffer another Passion than enter into your soul!"
