(lol not that you, or any other teacher, wouldn't do that anyways)
i wonder if that's the way that your leader set it up. because there are options for having 60, 75, 90, and 120 minute sessions on this material. :unsure: :))

I think that training could be very helpful, but if you have any good ideas that worked for you, I am open to them. I think your positive experience with it will be very helpful to me trying to form the program for my own parish. I'll send you a PM or something and we can discuss this further.
that's the way it was for me too :sadder: and the diocese didn't want to spring to do the 'diocesan training' :weep:

I bought the TOB for Teens curriculum over a year ago, because I wanted to use it for teaching our youth group. I can somewhat understand why people feel it's 'watered down'...I sort of felt the same, but only because I'm a TOB junkie... read all the books, been to many seminars, taught it to a college group, etc. This curriculum is definitely meant for beginner level, which is where the teens are at. After looking through the TOB for Teens set, I actually returned it and basically made my own curriculum to cater to our particular group. But that's just the way I am, and the fact that I knew the youth and what they respond to best. I would recommend the curriculum to others though. It brings it to their level and from there, they can get into the more complex stuff. It really allows for present day examples to be applied too, and you can find ways to cater it more toward your particular group.

just my two cents! ^_^

i would add that that is what is great about the curriculum, is that you can 'tweak' it to fit your group and your group's needs the best. and that every teacher teaching it should tweak it. :))

I think part of why it seems watered down is just that it's stuff most of us have heard many times before. That and the constant emphasis on how God loves & forgives us. It just seems more geared towards a younger age group. :idontknow:

I love the stories at the beginning of the chapters though. those are fun. :D

i think a lot of that has to do with how your leader presents the material. ;) and i think it's great that you have heard it many times!! :))

:lol: i didn't think so, but i wanted to make sure. :)) perhaps it was in the way that the material was presented to you? in my experience, the book was a jumping off point for discussion about sex and what the Church's teachings are. :unsure:
Yeah it's probably because I've been taught so much about the subject that I found it really easy material. I liked the one for beginners better. But I did love the stories! ^_^

This is good stuff...

Stories=good stuff

Thanks for the input about it all. I think we need something elementary to start, but things can always be brought to a deeper level.
I'm all about tinkering though. I'd be interesting in learning more about what you did with your group, sweetpea.
