tinytherese
So how come polygamy like when Jacob had two wives and the concubines in the Old Testament didn't appear to be opposed?
Thy Geekdom Come
God permitted polygamy with His permissive will (meaning that He opposed it, but allowed it to happen). However, He also allowed the natural consequences to result. For instance, Isaac and Ishmael were both fathers to peoples who ended up waging war to this day. Likewise, Jacob's sons rarely if ever got along and there were inter-tribal arguments frequently. Almost every time someone commits adultery in the Old Testament, something bad results from it in Scripture. It is not an explicit condemnation of polygamy, but an implicit one. God bless, Micah
