eagle_eye222001
Saw this a few days ago. I don't know what to say. This wasn't random. Child was way to passionate about it. Obvious parents were not behind it. I wonder why. Favorite quote from the article. jmjtina
a whole pro-choice nation is being schooled by a 12 year old. That's the power of God.

1337 k4th0l1x0r
When I hear things like this I am reminded of how sometimes the pro-life movement gets off-track with its message. This girl is sending exactly the message we should be sending. We should focus more on the child, not on what the mothers have done. Too often the message comes down as condemnation towards mothers, but this smart girl turned the issue in a direction the judges didn't expect. Those who support at-will abortion do not like hearing questions like these because the answers that they would be disgusted with themselves to give answers that would be consistent with their abortion views. That is an area of the controversy where we can truly make headway. I'm reminded of a poem someone wrote about the rise of Nazism in Germany, but I can't remember it. Basically, it was how certain groups were robbed of their rights, but the poet didn't care until they came after him. By then, there was no one to speak up for him. cmotherofpirl
Isn't it interesting to read her story and see how the teachers and judges reacted, like someone had asked them to drink poison or something.

Nihil Obstat
At the schoolwide competition, the mom said one pro-choice teacher on the judge's panel "didn't even want to hear" the speech, and stepped down from the panel before Lia began.
Typical.
While the family espouses pro-life Christian values, "it's not like we're out every weekend picketing," she said. "It was just something really deep in her heart, and she just felt really passionate about it." She added: "I kind of snicker when I see people on the Youtube video [comment box] saying 'Oh, her mother forced her to do this' - I'm like, 'No, I'm on the other end, trying to make her pick another topic!'
Shame on her. The girl probably had zero support writing and practicing this speech; I'll bet you that her mother minimizes how much she tried to discourage the topic choice. Good for this girl.
