Shame on her. :( The girl probably had zero support writing and practicing this speech; I'll bet you that her mother minimizes how much she tried to discourage the topic choice.

Good for this girl.
Uh... where'd the girl get the video camera from to practice, who hit the record button? Maybe the mom knew the girl could win the competition and didn't want her to get discouraged by being disqualified. The discouragement alone would affect many 12 year olds from not doing something, like speaking up their beliefs ever again. Let alone the ridicule that could have gone with it.

Im amazed with how ignorant the proabortion judges are, this kid was only stating facts for the most part. There was the one bit where she mentions God, but everything else was something anyone with any backround would have trouble refuting. There are prolife athiests...I think that speaks for something.

God bless this child!
It is amazing how this child can understand the meaning of life and how sad to think that some adults have not reach this point of understanding about life.

wow, way to be judgmental on the mom. :( maybe she was trying to steer her away because she knew how hard it would be to do this subject? and didn't want her daughter subjected to ridicule because of it?
You're both right. I'm cynical. :(

I put the video on my Facebook and told my year 7 - 11 students to go watch it as an example of public speaking. Regardless of the content. The kids all came back in awe. All of them comented on the girls maturity and many about the content. It opened up a really great series of discussions.

The more people that see this video the more the message is received. Any one who has a Facebook, Blog etc should link to it - keep the message going

Oh how sweet. A little girl without any life experience commenting on an issue she knows nothing about other than what her parents have spoonfed her since she was an infant. She has good style though.

Oh how lame. Trying to not face truth by attacking the age of the girl who brings it, as if that makes the argument any less valid.

The girl has had 12 years of life experience. Our kids these days are growing up a lot faster then you obviously realize. These days, she might have had a peer that has had an abortion. She is even more likely to have a number of peers who are sexually active.

It is not hard to figure out when something is right and wrong. Abortion is not right. Even Hilary Clinton said, "I have never met a person that is pro-abortion." Abortion smells of elderberries. Duh. ;)

Not this girl, no doubt her parents protect her from the harsh realities of this world. I wouldn't be surprised if her parents wrote the speech for her, and are trying to gain notoriety for her success. The whole things smacks of fakery anyway, where's the tears and genuine emotion? Can't you tell she's acting? I respect this little girls right to an opinion, but I don't think it's any more valid than any other 12 year old no matter which side of the fence they sit on.

Wow, you're even more cynical than I was a page or two ago.
So this girl's 'opinion' is no more valid than any other 12-year old's, despite the fact that she can argue her 'opinion' far and away more succinctly and convincingly than most people twice her age?
Judge her on what she says, not her age. That's called a 'logical fallacy', you know. Probably some type of ad hominem, but I wouldn't know, not being an adult and all.
