Wrong. It is the locals first , then states job to lead the charge, backed up by the federal government. The state responses to Katrina was abject failure.
wrong. you absolutism to subsidiarity misses the point of what it's suppose to accomplish. the federal government can intervene during large emergencies. there has to be a balance between local and federal interventions, and personal responsibility.

it's funny there's never 'the bush admin is just winging it' posts.
the biases are too obvious that it's funny.
at least obama's winging involves intelligence.

surely though, obama should be criticized, we should expect nothing less than experts as president.

Bush wasn't very often called a genius on Phatmass, as well as I can remember...

No, Obama's winging it doesn't involve intelligence. It involves doing and saying what the leftist contingent tells him to do and say, plus his own (minimal) charisma.

Bush was no intellect, but Bush also isn't the President any more. Why can't we have discussions and express opinions about Obama, who IS the President, without someone whining about Bush?

WRT Obama's intelligence...while heading the Harvard Law Review he himself never wrote one single article for this journal. While a senator for three years he never wrote one single piece of legislation. Also while a senator he voted "present" rather than "aye" or "nay" too many times to keep track of. This same man, while running for President, stated on live television that he was "qualified" to be President because "I studied political science and I've lived overseas". I'm supposed to believe this is an intelligent man?? Why? Because he graduated from Ivy League schools? I've met so many dumb college graduates, it's enough to make a person weep at the pathetic excuses for "intellects" and "academics" that our American universities are churning out.

So please, don't ever again lecture us about Obama's intelligence. It's a pipe dream.

I think she's objective to the inconsistencies in the attacks on Obama vs Bush.

Sort of like the Republicans who suddenly decided that deficit spending was a bad idea.

Can you source that?
I don't know about republicans, but I've always been leery of deficit spending.

Obama's reputation for competence is at risk.
The whole world seems to be winging it.

No as the law is written, it goes local, state, and then federal. Feds cannot come in until invited, and they still depend on the locals to coordinate on the local levels because supposedly they know the territory. The locals in Lousiana were incompetent and even seemingly criminal in their stupidity.
