The money quote:
"Rather than furthering discovery, our government has forced what I believe is a false choice between sound science and moral values," Obama said. "In this case, I believe the two are not inconsistent. As a person of faith, I believe we are called to care for each other and work to ease human suffering."
I am sickened.

This is what I posted on the other thread. I think it's important enough to repeat.

"My husband and I were discussing stem cell stuff today. He couldn't understand why the researchers want to use embryonic so bad when adult is available and probably more scientifically viable. I had to explain, that like most things, it is about money. Any treatment developed from an adult stem cell line wouldn't be allowed to be patented, and even if they could, they'd have to cut in the adult that the stem cells came from on the profit. Embryos don't have rights to anything, so you can patent treatments based on them, and you don't have to cut anyone in on anything. If you don't think this is a big thing, look up the fight that happened between the US and France when the Pasteur Institute found out the new AIDS test was based on some material they sent the US lab. They traced it by DNA. Embryos have DNA, but once destroyed, it would be hard to track. A living adult can have their DNA tested later for legal purposes."

another (future) money quote:
"Rather than furthering discovery, our government has forced to believe in god
Obama said. "In this case, I believe the two are not inconsistent. As a person of faith, starting tomorrow on all US money will change the words on the back from "IN GOD WE TRUST" to "IN GOVERNMENT WE TRUST" :topsy:

Because i believe it's never too late--i want to share this initiative with you guys:

I have written a letter to petition the president to get him to look at ethical and effective stem cell research (adult, umbilical cord, etc). The idea is that if it comes from people with disabilities and their friends and families, it may get significant attention. I'm kind of stuck on the petition part--- how do we do this? and if anybody is interested in reading the letter and joining in the petition--- please private message me...

any ideas for getting a serious petition off the ground?

There is no such thing as ethical embryonic stem cell reasearch.
Meanwhile, adult stem cell research has been paying off big time.

Brother Adam

He's only keeping his promises to the Catholics, NARAL associates & Planned Parenthood leaders that voted him into office.

Exactly, it's more than just money, it's about pandering to the culture of death minions.

Madame Vengier

As much as I hate to say it, I fear that--one way or the other--this country is going to pay dearly for our continued grostesque assault on human life.

But Obama is pandering to these minions of death because of the money they provided to him.
