I think your house is the one with issues.

Or, you might need to check into what possessed you to get a cat in a first place.

What did you do to upset him - get a girlfriend etc, dog, change your brand of litter, new furniture that needs baptised?
Watch him, catch him, rub his face in it immediately so he understands this is not a good thing. Take him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have a bladder infection.

i find the maligning of cats disturbing.

I am telling my cat where you all live.

Granted, I am making up the addresses, but he'll find you.

Rubbing the face into the pee is what you do for dogs, not cats. When you catch a cat peeing where it is not supposed to you yell very firmly. You can also give a squirt of water (which definitely did NOT work for my baby cat because she CONTINUOUSLY kept going back to drink the Christmas tree water, but that is another story). When you clean the spot apply a lemon or other citrus scent because cats HATE this. You can also apply this scent (or get one of those air freshener things that puffs the scent every so often) to keep the cat AWAY from the spot in the first place.

Believe me, the cat KNOWS it did something wrong, and you will know this when you see it run off with its tail down. Like someone said, your cat could be sick because when cats go to the bathroom outside of the litter it means something is wrong. Of course there are other factors too. I have an older cat who is just about 13 now, and a baby cat who is a little over 1 year old. The older cat tends to urinate on the rug near the front door, and sometimes she has pooped under the table. Now urinating is marking territory so she is probably doing that because of the little cat, but as for her pooping, well she is old and she probably cannot make it to the litter in time. Once she got locked out of the bathroom and went TO the bathroom under the table because (unlike baby cat) she cannot hold it in, she has old bowels.

Lol my little cat has been with me in my room for awhile now and every five minutes I have to stop her from:
- Chewing on the plastic bag in my garbage can
- Chewing on the ribbons in my Bible
- Chewing on my laptop power chord
- Chewing on my hair
- Climbing over my papers

She is currently sitting behind my laptop.
