Magnitude Of Sins

I've had some really terrible fights with my mom this week. I apologized but I'm afraid I was quite intentionally disrespectful. Does this amount to a mortal sin?

Also, today when I was babysitting two young girls, they were making up a story which was fairly violent and disturbing. I tried to suggest a happier ending to put a halt to the talk of this, but I felt like I waited very long to say something. How culpable am I for what they imagine?

To the first instance: The gravity of the offense would be determined both by the damage caused and the level of disrespect. The culpability, based on knowledge of the evil and level of willfulness, is something no one but you can determine. Confess the sin and do not worry about it.

To the second; You are not culpable for others' imagination and it seems that your are being scrupulous here.
