Ya, no one invited the Federal troops, no one asked for their help. That the point that we have gotten to -- the Federal Government just intervenes because it can. The bad thing is, this creates the norm.

Should need a little more than some town/county Sheriff to call in The United States Army.

The American people have been victims of many social experiments over the last 20 years. This is only 1 step away from that scenario.
The troops wern't sent there to stop the crime, they were sent to direct trafic and keep the crime scene clear.
Again, my point is that there are other law enforcement and peacekeeping entities more appropriately trained to do a civilian job like this -- for example other street cops from local communities, the National Guard, local civilian militia, or fire fighters (including volunteer members). These people are trained to protect. They have a defensive purpose, they understand their duty to protect the rights of citizens -- law abiding or otherwise, and they are subject to our civilian laws. The military is trained to dominate, ocupy and kill, and they are subject to a different justice code and different rules of engagement. Keep in mind that there are no government entities more deadly than the military. Their function is inappropriate and downright dangerous in a domestic, civilian setting. And I bet you anything, those soldiers felt their time was absolutely wasted on such a mission.

I would like to know who in the Army the sheriff called that said "Okay".
