Thy Geekdom Come
I'm just letting everyone know that after struggling in youth ministry and having a real desire to teach in an academic setting, I have been hired to teach at a Catholic middle school (where StColette works) for this Fall. I will not be teaching theology (no position available), but I will be teaching, and that excites me. The subject is...math. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated. God bless, Micah Addendum: I may also have the opportunity to teach Latin extra-curricular, and I will be designing and maintaining a website for the school as well. CatherineM
So you've become too much of an old married man to hang out with the teenagers anymore? Middle school math sounds harder than theology to me right now.

Nihil Obstat
Oh middle school kids. Gotta love 'em. Put it this way: teaching math to the hellians is probably a lot easier than teaching theology to them.
littleflower+JMJ
Congrats Raph! Let us know you like middle school kids and teaching! I pray that your students aren't as crazy and wild as mine LOL But teaching in one of the two hardest districts in my region, I know yours will be a lot better. Especially being a Catholic School -how awesome is that? Middle school needs lots of patience and...lots of patience! Good luck! I think you will really enjoy yourself. scardella
make sure you teach them this formula: Proof that girls are evil. 1. Girls require time and money Girls = Time x Money 2. And as we all know, time is money. Time = Money 3. Therefore Girls = Money x Money = Money^2 4. And money is the root of all evil Money = sqrt(Evil) 5. Therefore Girls = sqrt(Evil)^2 6. And we are forced to conclude Girls = Evil
StColette
Oh middle school kids. Gotta love 'em. I know most of their families from working in the parish office. They are mostly well behaved.
Thy Geekdom Come
Ugh, MATH! But congrats, Micah.
I'm pretty good at math, so it's okay. There are two types of theologians: those who come to theology from a love of the beauty of the poetry and history and grandeur of the faith and those who come to theology from a love of the beauty of the order and logic and reason of the faith (which correspond to Fr. John Courtney Murray's views on the rational atheists and the theatrical atheists). Anyway, that's my observation...and while history, poetry, and literature interest me, my strong suit is from the other angle. So I will be teaching math, but I will also be teaching God through the logic and order found in His creation, which we can see through math. PS - If I can handle youth ministry with completely undisciplined 6-12th graders, I can handle a classroom of 20 middle schoolers.
