Some Want St. Patrick's Day To Be 'shamrock Day'

I already get irritated with everyone dropping the Saint part into now being just "Valentine's Day."

I had it marked like that in my (public school) classroom and all my kids were asking about it. :club:

The Catholic in me is furious. The Englishman in me is delighted.

In all seriousness, this is the dumbest thing I've heard all day. And I go to public school, so that's saying a lot.

That's a good idea! I bet a great place would be not too far from mainland Europe....probably just north of it. I hear there's some good real estate just off the west coast of the UK...

Internal moderating. ;) Besides, I have nothing against those holidays being what they are.
How are Saint Patrick's Day celebrations, as celebrated by the general public, Catholic at all anyway? Other than possibly reinforcing negative stereotypes -- getting drunk, etc. hehe

Maybe it's for the best that only Catholics call the day for a saint, and the rest can continue to use the day as an excuse to party and drink and ...well, drink some more.
It depends on who you ask...those who are against drinking think we're drunks. Those who like to drink think we're teetotalers (sp?). I am now hated by my roommates fiancee, because, among other things, I supposedly am against drinking and having fun, and this is due to the fact that I am Catholic and "Catholics are allergic to fun." (I didn't know that being against destructive and illegal activity constitued being against fun...but now I'm just getting into a rant...)

Maybe that's why my sinuses are stuffy... I thought it was spring allergies, but maybe it's that we are having too much fun around the HShouse. :lol_roll:
