Natasha Richardson suffered a head injury in a skiing accident on Monday and was taken off life support today. I am totally shocked -- I just found out about this. I always really liked her. Very elegant woman and actress.

Some of you might know her best from the Parent Trap remake, or Maid in Manhattan.

I did not know she was married to Liam Neeson. Understandably he and their children are devastated. :(

Madame Vengier

LOL, she was famous for A LOT more than Parent Trap and Main in Manhattan. But anyway, she was a terrific, brilliant actress. And it was said that she was beyond nice to everyone she met and had no "movie star" attitude, despite being a third generation of one of the most famous and legendary acting families in history. This is very sad for her husband and young children.

Always wear a helmet on the ski slopes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was simply stating that may be how people specifically on phatmass might know her best, not all of what she is actually famous for in general.

Quebec has been debating making helmets there mandatory. I'll bet it passes quickly now.

I saw a show once where a trauma surgeon in Houston was being interviewed. He said if we did 3 things, he would be out of a job.

-Always wear protection: seat belts, helmets
-Stay away from big toys: jet skis, atvs, snow mobiles
-Get home before midnight: except for cops and emts, no one really needs to be out at that time of night.

One commentator last night mentioned that they had not only been together for 15 years, but they new had any public rumors of problems, and always showed up on red carpets looking obviously in love. Novel concepts in Hollywood, that and having both of their kids in wedlock.

from what i understand, though, a helmet might not have helped her.

My sister and I watch at least a little of The Parent Trap every time it's on TV. She was a wonderful actress and it seems a wonderful person as well. My prayers are with her family, for whom this must be terrible.

Very tragic. I wonder if she was Catholic as nobody has said. I have worked in a hospital, and I have seen many head injuries. She died of a epidural hematoma due to blunt impact, and sometimes difficult to diagnosis. Prayers for her two young sons.
