When I was 20, I had to plan my father's funeral right down to picking his coffin and writing his obituary. When I pass, I don't want my husband to have to make any decisions while he is grieving. The greatest gift you can give the ones you love is to have your affairs in order, and hopefully paid for.
I hope to die among religious sisters. I think it is a little different in that case.

If I were married and had children then I would, like you said, not wish them to have to decide those things.

You know, I've never been to a Catholic funeral. Hmm. I've been to the visitation for one, and they played Ave Maria and then we said the Rosary in Polish. Well, I said it in English, but everyone else said it in Polish.
I don't think I'd want music at the not-Mass part of my funeral. Silence is more sorrowful.
