Anyway, I posted this article with intent of provoking a discussion on why God allows suffering and why certain prayers are not answered in ways that seem favorable. I'm sure this pilot meant well (it would take a whole lot of faith - regardless of the lack of prudence - to "pause" for prayer during such a situation; I'm sure the pilot honestly expected to get some divine help)...so why wasn't his prayer answered? Why did God allow this scandal ("scandal" for those who see this as yet another example that God doesn't care or doesn't exist)?

Well, we don't know if his prayer was answered. He was praying. If he was only praying for himself, and not his passengers or his crew then they very well could of been.
