Nihil Obstat

Does anyone know how to restrict privacy in different groups of friends?
I want to make a group of 'friends' that I don't really like, and friends that I do, then a group for Phatmassers that I currently don't add because of privacy concerns.

Go under "privace settings" and you can customize who can see various aspects of your profile. You can create groups that are excluded from seeing things like your basic info, contact information, and so on.

Apparently the resident violinist disagrees...

I just want to restrict the people I don't like without outright removing them. They may turn out to be famous someday, after all. ;)

You just blew my mind. ;)

Thanks so much. Soon I can start adding PMers.

[quote name='hot stuff' post='1828433' date='Apr 7 2009, 11:14 PM']You are talking about a guy who had an iPhone before anybody. He finds more cool widgets than anyone I know. Plus he can juggle while wearing big shoes. If I had a question about computer stuff, he was on the short list of people to ask. He is the last person I would think would be confounded by Facebook.

My 60 year old office manager had an easier time setting up her facebook page. And I had to have her leave the computer on when she was done because she couldn't figure out how to turn it on in the morning[/quote]
:rolling:

Here's my typical facebook session:

O hai, facebook, look, there you are.

[page loads]

Hmm, lots of status updates. 80% of which I already saw on Twitter. And what *IS* that ad? Eww. Uh, anyway. Notifications, 11 of them.

Huh, D claims to have a bigger brain than me, seven people have sent me geraniums for my green patch, M has fallen unconscious and needs healing, and there's a horoscope for me. <_<

Ok, there was a reason I'm checking this. I know, I wanted to search for someone. Erm. Search... search... where's the search? There it is.

[put name in] [find 2,000+ people/entities/groups]

[try another name] [facebook claims search is broken] Right. You're broken because you don't like that search term. Ugh, now what is THAT ad??

[try first search term again...] [start paging through 20 pages] grrr, this is stupid. Forget it.

I just added Dust! Anyone else want to be my Phatmass friend? :P I've started a special list where all you can see is my interests. :P

You (all) can search for "Laurel Amberdine" and find me. I'll be your friend. (For all the good it does.)

That'll be about the only way, since I'm TOO STUPID TO BE ABLE TO FIND ANYONE.

Not that I'm bitter or anything. :madrant:

Dangit, I'm going to go compile a kernel or something to reclaim my self-esteem.

You wouldn't be able to find me anyway. :ninja:
