I love Christmas but Easter especially. I just love going to holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil masses. we only go to the vigil masses for Christmas and Easter and the litany of the saint is my absolute favorite part. My friend heads up the music ministry at my church and last year he did a different version but this year he went traditional and it was awesome. Easter also gave me an excuse to come home from college and see some of the people from my church who i miss dearly. Something hit me this year...i dont know what but it hit me.

the nail in basket thing would be something particular to your location... the veneration of the cross is universal, however, and it is always a deep experience for me as well while the reproaches are being sung.

In my parish on Holy Thursday we process around the church with the Holy Eucharist to the altar of repose which is actually the same tablenacle where the eucharist is normally kept, we just moved it forward into the doorway of the Eucharistic chapel and then the space around it is decorated with flowers and candlabras. The altar is stripped afterward informally with no singing.

On Good Friday we don't sing the reproaches, instead we sang O Crucified Messiah, then Were You There.

Our Entrance Hymn on Holy Thursday was Glory In The Cross, we've sung it each year since 2003. The communion hymn on Holy Thursday, Good Friday & Holy Saturday was the same for all 3 liturgies; Behold the Lamb.
