that is one of the important things, yes (which is why I have jotted down all their phone numbers). it must be both okay with them AND okay with Rome for me to participate in anything.

The only thing that I think you should avoid is receiving holy communion, which both Rome and the Orthodox Church would discourage. All the other things, i.e., the agape meal, eating the antidoron, etc., should be cleared by talking to the Orthodox priest or some other representative of the parish.

I don't see what the problem with eating the antidoron would be unless it gave the impression that you were Eastern Orthodox.

As I said, it depends upon the Church. Some Orthodox Churches allow everyone to take and eat the antidoron, while others do not. As I see it, it is better to be polite and ask what the Church you are attending does in situations where a person is visiting.

Hmm... at a (ETA: Catholic) Melkite liturgy that I go to often, the priest encourages all to receive the antidoron. It's sort of a sacramental, eh? But I guess we gotta tread lightly with our Orthodox brethren, so do as they say.

yes with the Eastern Catholics there is no question; with the Eastern Orthodox it's a question of whether the specific Church allows it. however, I am not sure this agape meal has anything to do with the antidoron...

the antidoron I believe can be offered even to non-Christians potentially... well, maybe they'd have to be in the process of converting... I'm not sure...

I have been wondering what that is and why we do it. Thanks.
