I guess miraculous medals fit the same idea? For some who are struggling with internet purity they might consider it a miracle to ever be free?
But if you're struggling with internet purity then the internet is probably a near occasion of sin to you... and you're supposed to avoid near occasions of sin themselves (which I guess could merely involve putting an immodest image blocker on your computer)

What about miraculous medals to protect you from viruses?
dominicaninmyheart2
Ok. I fix computers for fun. For free too if it is for a church, a non-profit, a kid, a seasoned citizen, a needy person, or a left-handed-irish-redhead lass with beer. anyhoo...last week, my father in law asked me to take a look at the computer of his next door neighbor. He said it won;t start up. So I took it home. Sure enough, when I press the power button...nothihng. So I unplug it and start to tip it over to remove the cover and I hear a metallic rattle inside it. I get the cover off and spy something wedged between the motherboard and the case. Something metallic with a few chain links attached. Obviously this is shorting the circuit and making it not boot up. I pull it out and lo and behold........ it's a Miraculous Medal about an inch and a half long. Computer powered up fine after that. No idea what it was doing there or how it got there.
It was meant to be there for a reason which you just don't know yet.

Groo the Wanderer
Update: When my wife returned the repaired computer to the woman, she tried to give her the medal, along with a rosary kit I sent along. Get this - the lady isn't Catholic! So she sent them back with my wife. I had been wondering how the heck it got in there and why if the Miraculous Medal didn't belong to the woman. I think it finally hit me this morning as I was driving home. Perhaps the medal wasn't meant for her...it was meant for me. Now it is sitting here on my desk beside my keyboard, five small links attached as well. I look at it and wonder. Lord knows I have so many things in my life to fix right now. I'd like to hope this was a gift from our Blessed Mother to let me know she's praying for me. Gotta go now...starting to water up a bit... Thank you Jesus my Lord for the gift of Your Mother!! Thy Geekdom Come
Maybe someone was trying to convert his household? I know someone who stuck a miraculous medal in an object he was repairing for Planned Parenthood.
Norseman82
Being Catholic and in IT, I often joke about performing exorcisms on computers. In fact, when I was first starting out, one of my jokes was to say in a televangelist's voice "Put your hands on the terminal and say 'HEAL'!"
I used to find dead bugs in them in Florida, never anything that cool though.
Adds a whole new meaning to the term "programming bug", eh? He often obliges lol
Groo the Wanderer
hehe. I tell my pastor the same thing when his computer starts acting weird. He usually gives me 'the look' to which I respond quizzically "last rites then?"
