You can buy a blu-ray player (which is still very new technology) for as little as $100.00, though decent sets are still going to run you between $200-300. The average price I pay for a single new release blu-ray movie is $5.00 less than the average new release DVD. And many of the popular ones come with a blu-ray version, dvd version, and digital download version. Brother Adam Posted April 16, 2009 Author Share Posted April 16, 2009 That is what everyone said about dvd too. I only know one guy (a high school teacher) for whom that is true. He still only has VHS. I think once decent players cost around $100-150 and blu-rays regularly cost only as much as DVD, the dvd market will dry up like the VHS market did.
