socalscout
<if this is a repost then I apologize, I searched> It did cost me my crown," Prejean said of her response on Billy Bush's show.. "I wouldn't have had it any other way. I said what I feel. I stated an opinion that was true to myself and that's all I can do." I'm impressed with that kind of courage because I am sure she worked hard for that and disgusted by yet another reaction by the pro gay media/society especially the contest organizers and judges themselves in what could be construed as discrimination. If they don't like the answer then don't ask the question. Hilde
That smelt of elderberries what Perez did. And the response by that Keith Lewis guy was really annoying. ETA: It's on his blog. Edited April 21, 2009 by Hilde
VoTeckam
While I agree with what her point of view, her response just was not very articulate.

lost_in_this_world
i'm impressed by her courage. it stinks to lose something you work so hard for but she did stand up for what she believes in. more power to her.
nkkh
I dont get what the big fuss is about! Perez Hilton is babbling abut how she didnt answer the question.... she did. He asked her personal opinion and she gave it. On a side note, dang is she gorgeous!
sweens8403
Her response wasn't angry or judgemental either, it just wasn't what they wanted to hear so they gave her the shaft. Why is this type of behavior allowed? Why can pro-gay activists trample somebody on a whim? Seriously, what is this young woman going to be able to do about it and what repercussions will this Perez Hilton endure? *flush*, we're circling the bowl here folks

thessalonian
I have to say that if the point of asking them questions was to show their intelligence and ability to articulate, then in answering that question she failed. But the question should not have been asked in that venue. I believe that she was put on the spot with it. I am still a bit confused as to whether she likes that some states allow gay marriage or not even though she said she is for hetero marriage. rkwright
Is there a way she could have nailed this question, stayed true to herself, and still not lost his vote? I don't see one... even if it was an amazing argument, she lost his vote the minute she stayed true to herself. Good for her. BTW the other question was so much easier, the "bailout". You have sympathy on both side - If you want to say we need to protect people's jobs, you get sympathy... if you want to say we don't need to be taxed so much, you get sympathy. Its an easy win-win no matter how you answer it. Gay marriage question? I think by definition you lose any gay-marriage proponents.

[quote]Keith Lewis, Co-Executive Director of the Miss California USA and Miss California Teen USA said in statement to Access Hollywood that he respects Carrie's opinion, even if it differs with his. "I am proud of Carrie Prejean's beauty and placement at the 2009 Miss USA pageant. I support Carrie's right to express her personal beliefs even if they do not coincide with my own," Keith told Access. "I believe the subject of gay marriage deserves a great deal more conversation in order to heal the divide it has created."
